A Monument of Craftsmanship and Devotion
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the world’s largest mosques, capable of accommodating over 40,000 worshippers. Its construction brought together artisans and materials from across the globe—marble from Italy, carpets from Iran, chandeliers from Germany—all united in a vision of Islamic architectural excellence .
Key Features You’ll Experience:
Towering white domes: The mosque’s silhouette is defined by its magnificent domes, gleaming white against Abu Dhabi’s sky
Intricate floral mosaics: Coloured marble inlays depicting floral patterns adorn the walls and columns
Swarovski crystal chandeliers: Grand chandeliers adorned with crystals illuminate the prayer halls
World’s largest hand-woven carpet: Spanning 5,627 square metres and weighing approximately 35 tons, this masterpiece was woven by 1,200 artisans over nearly two years
Reflective water features: The mirror-like pools surrounding the mosque create stunning photographic symmetry, especially at sunrise and sunset

The Strict Dress Code: What You Need to Know
This is where most visitors encounter problems. The dress code at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is strictly enforced, and non-compliance means being turned away at the entrance .
For Women:
Hair must be fully covered with a headscarf (hijab)
Arms must be covered to the wrists—long sleeves are required
Legs must be covered to the ankles—long pants or skirts only
Clothing must be loose-fitting and non-transparent—tight leggings or sheer fabrics are not acceptable
Even ankles cannot show—if your dress reveals skin above your feet, you’ll be required to wear socks
Abayas are no longer lent free of charge—you can purchase one for AED 45 at Souq Al Jami’ next to the mosque
For Men:
Long trousers only—shorts are not permitted, even knee-length ones
Shoulders must be covered—tank tops and sleeveless shirts are prohibited
Modest, loose-fitting clothing is recommended
Our Advice: Come prepared rather than relying on purchasing abayas on-site. If you arrive non-compliant, you will either need to buy appropriate clothing or be denied entry .
